HYPERFOCUS (c, 2, Constitution#tot">Constitution–Discreet Meating, by Hat Trick {Jpn}) became the 50th worldwide winner for his second-crop sire, who scored both of his top-level victories at Gulfstream for winning trainer Todd Pletcher. Sent off at 5-2 in this career bow, the $100,000 KEESEP purchase raced off the fence in mid-pack as Breakthrough (Nyquist) and Peppi (Cajun Breeze) dueled through a swift first quarter in :22.07. Aggressively ridden by Irad Ortiz, Jr., the bay ranged up outside the top two turning for home. Breakthrough called it a day in the lane and Peppi put up a mild fight, but Hyperfocus swept past in the final sixteenth and kicked clear to score by 1 1/4 lengths. Peppi held on for second and Breakthrough secured third. The winner, produced by a half-sister to Argentinian champion and dual G1SW Forty Greeta (Arg) (Roar) and to GSW sire Honorable Dillon (Tapit), is the first and only foal so far out of Discreet Meating, who was bred to Super Saver last year. Sales history: $100,000 Ylg '19 KEESEP. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $24,000. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
